1524. The Ship of Theseus

It’s day 3 of Philosophy week! I hope you didn’t miss day 1 and day 2.

The Ship of Theseus is one of my favorite philosophical thought experiments.

If you are unfamiliar with it, a common extension of the thought experiment involves building a second ship out of all the original parts, though at that point you are wondering either 1) why are they replacing all those perfectly good parts? or 2) how safe is this new (old?) ship?

This comic alleges that, like so many things, from problems like Maria, to the difficulty in finding an appropriate unit for year measurement, the solution is love.

This solution may be dubious.
