cowbirds in love

There’s this Indian story about this stone carver working on a carving in this really dark corner of a temple.  He’s working really hard on making it beautiful and someone asks him “Why are you working so hard on that carving?  No one will see it.”

And the carver is all “God will see it.”

Sometimes, on days when nobody visits my site, I feel like that stone carver.
