Betz:That's always a letdown too. If the person seems desperate, it doesn't matter how interesting or attractive they are, they're ruined.

jhamnett:Dude, the hunt is the best, for realz. I dunno, this wasn't much of a hunt, kinda too easy.

It's true, playing the game on unequal footing just isn't fair (to both parties). It's nice when a person is able and willing to push/tease back.

Nice to see current events turned into the most recent comic, Sanjay...

Btw, is that what I look like?!?

No, actually this wasn't so much current events as I am always thinking about unattainable love and stuff like that.

The reason the guy is a white guy is I thought he would stand out better against the night sky.

    Wait... what current events?

Well, the whole "I gotta tell a girl I just wanna be friends" angle... and I mentioned that it was pretty easy to win her over, barely any "hunt" involved, so, in essence, she was very attainable.

I thought it was related too.

Update: deed is done. She didn't see it coming (of course)... I don't feel so great about it, but it was necessary... UGH.

Still, that guilt is a lot easier to deal with than the guilt of forcing yourself to pretend you like and/or want to be in a relationship with someone when you really don't. I'm too nice (read: chicken Scheisse) and have to deal with that kind of guilt way more than I'd like to.

Very true, needed to "nip it in the bud". Plus, this lets me explore some other options I was considering...

What? No, dude, I don't copy everything on that show! I genuinely did not want to continue things with her... she's cool, but not someone I want as a gf.

PS - Going on a Superdate tomorrow!!! (Psych -- but that's what they did on How I Met Your Mother)

I used to call one of my guy friends "boy" all the time just because it made him upset. "BLARGH, I'm older than you, and I'm a MAN!"

    Goooood times.

You and me are going to write "Wedding Crashers 2: The Final Vow" starring Vince Vaughn and Chuck Norris. Gross: $234 million.

rachel:I use 'kiddo' expressly for people who are older than me. Because I have standards.

I just use it for girls, older, younger... was weird when I used it for my grandmother though...

Hi. I'm me, but then again, I already knew that.

I started reading CiL longer than my browser history goes, so, a decade, I think.

I'm engaged, so either I took everyone's relationship advice, or ignore it. I can't remember.

    Congratulations!

Either for getting engaged or reading the comic for a long time. Take your pick.

Hi, my name is Rini. I'm a 19 year old sophomore majoring in biology.
A friend introduced me to Cowbirds in Love. I enjoy the biology jokes (yeast pee, wanting to taste ATP) and relate to the theme of unrequited love. I have not yet celebrated International Breakup Day because I am perpetually single. I have many interests such as playing the piano (unfortunately not the keytar), drawing, and having crazy dance parties by myself.

    Also, I'm Indian. ; )

    Welcome!

I learned a biology-related factoid yesterday, just for you! There's a type of algae that they use in thickeners in food with a gel-like substance, and it has antimicrobial properties, so they've begun using it in lubes too because it reduces infection of HPV and other unpleasant bacterial hangers-on in those regions. And because I'm not a biology person (but I am MADE of biology, just like everyone) I probably told that story wrong or incompletely. Don't judge me. It's too early for that. Anyway, the moral of the story is: enjoy the cowbirds!

Some people never celebrate International Breakup Day because they are always single. Sometimes people are always single because they celebrate International Breakup Day.

Right now, I'm glad I've been single. Apparently leaving the place I work due to relationship issues is a common theme here.

Hello, I'm Michael Van Steyn. 19 years on this planet so far, planning on staying longer hopefully. I just finished my first year of college and I don't have a major picked out yet. (I should probably get on that). I really enjoy Cowbirds in Love, it's smart and quirky, and cuddley- cute! Keep doing what you're doing Sanjay! :D

Usually when I draw up a comic I proofread it and if it isn't cuddley I throw it right in the trash.
